The desk had a considerable amount of surface damage but I wasn't after something long term - I just needed a computer desk so I could work at home! Although, I will say, this has become one of my favorite pieces of furniture.
I took the desk apart and used my electric sander and completely removed the laminate from ALL pieces. I also used my electric heat gun to melt the plastic siding and rip it off the pieces. I used wood putty to fill in the holes and smooth the edges for painting.
Next, I laid out poster board to protect the floors and used my favorite color (and in Pantone, too!) to paint the pieces.
After I had finished painting everything, I put the desk back together. Some of the holes had been stripped so this required larger screws to get the pieces to stay together. I am absolutely in love with this desk!
